TIA CARRERE GOES ON THE PROWL THIS FALL
IN GLOBE-TROTTING ACTION HOUR ‘RELIC HUNTER’

RELIC HUNTER Set To Premiere Week Of September 20

International box office superstar TIA CARRERE leads the hunt this fall for the world’s most fabled lost treasures and rare stolen artifacts on RELIC HUNTER, an uncompromising action- adventure hour slated to give chase the week of September 20 in national syndication.

As unorthodox History Professor Sydney Fox, Carrere (Wayne’s World, True Lies) moonlights as an impassioned explorer, crisscrossing the globe in pursuit of an eclectic mix of lost icons – from the four thousand year old alms bowl of Siddhartha to the lost glove of a 1946 baseball legend.  It is this vast knowledge of the arcane combined with her mastery of the martial arts that allows Sydney to take care of herself in the most dangerous of situations.

Because of her reputation, Sydney is highly sought by a variety of employers – secret government agencies, private collectors, museum curators, law enforcement officials, religious figures, politicians, the wealthy, the obsessed, the quirky, even the criminal.  All of them banking on her extraordinary abilities to find what they cannot.

A dynamic teacher, Sydney’s lectures are stimulating and unconventional.  From the re-enactment of a Mayan ritual human sacrifice to the staging of a violent Celtic swordfight, she brings history to life to the delight of her adoring students.  The university administration is willing to overlook her “irregular” procedures in light of the financial and P.R. benefits Sydney brings to the school, which often showcases the spoils of her adventures.

Sydney is aided by British twenty-something Nigel Bailey (played by CHRISTIEN ANHOLT), her attractive but decidedly intellectual teaching assistant who accompanies her on most missions.  But when “in the field” with Sydney, Nigel is often hopelessly out of his element, complicating the mission and putting himself -- and sometimes her -- in danger.  Back at the university, Sydney and Nigel are kept up-to-date on thoroughly modern things by Sydney’s trusty student secretary, Claudia (played by LINDY BOOTH).  While the young “Girl Friday” may not always pick up on the two academics’ history-based references, Claudia is an expert on the current century -- from the hottest pop culture trends to the latest in pop psychology.

On her excursions, Syd finds herself in the company of other less scrupulous adventurers, including her dashing ex-lover Francois Du Marier and Asian mastermind Avery Ko, whose gang is quipped with the very highest tech gear money can buy.
